Ryann Randall, CFA, Portfolio Manager

Ryann Randall, CFA

Director of Portfolio Management

What I do here:

I am responsible for portfolio construction and management, investment strategy, manager due diligence, performance reporting and attribution, and monitoring client accounts to ensure proper allocation.

Why I love my job:

While I love the numbers and the analysis side of investment management, I have a particular interest in distilling all of the data, projections, and analysis into simple, easy-to-understand strategies that help clients meet their financial goals and feel comfortable with their investments. Being an integral part of a firm that is committed not only to investment results, but also to client needs and investor education is the most rewarding part of my job.

Work History:

I began my career at a Wyoming credit union where I served as a Financial Officer.  At the credit union I was responsible for the approval or denial of consumer loans, management of business banking accounts and sales of financial products to members.  I worked in banking for only a couple of years before my passion for investment management brought me to Frontier Asset Management in 2011.  I served in several roles during my tenure at Frontier, progressing from an Investment Analyst position to Associate Portfolio Manager, and finally to Portfolio Manager.  At Frontier I served on the Investment Committee and was responsible for account-level tax management and analysis, portfolio optimization, supervision of the firm’s trading, and the calculation and creation of GIPS-compliant monthly performance composites.  I was also responsible for management of the firm’s assets generated through platform relationships as well as several investment consulting relationships with outside RIAs.  In 2015 I earned my Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, and I am an active member of the CFA Society of Colorado.  I joined First Ascent in 2016 and I’m excited to be a part of this team.

Education:

B.S. in Finance, Minor in Banking and Financial Services, Magna Cum Laude, University of Wyoming, 2008

Where I come from:

I was born and raised in small-town Wyoming. I moved to Denver in the fall of 2013 and plan on calling it home for as long as possible.

A Little Personal:

I enjoy anything outside! Hiking, camping, fishing, boating, and running are among my favorite pastimes. I recently took up skiing and it is quickly becoming a favorite hobby as well. I travel whenever I can, and I also love to cook, read, and spend time with friends and family.
